The Station offers transitional housing for youth aged 16 to 19 who are leaving care. Located in Courtenay, The Station provides furnished suites and a supportive environment where young people can develop the confidence and skills to live independently.

The Station is designed to be a stepping stone. It offers the privacy of independent living combined with the safety net of on-site support. Here, residents are encouraged to take ownership of their lives, from managing a household to planning for their future careers.

The Program

 Transitional housing for youth aged 16 to 19 who are transitioning out of care.

The Station

Furnished suites with private outdoor access, located near shopping, transit, and essential services.

Access to common areas including a kitchen, living room, and laundry facilities.

On-site program staff and a caretaker provide supervision and guidance.

Collaboration with a coordinator to develop independent living skills and achieve personal goals.

Assistance with housing stability, employment readiness, and immediate needs.

Long-term planning support for education and career development.

Eligibility

The Station is open to:

Youth ages 16 to 19 in Courtenay.

Services may extend beyond age 19 in certain circumstances.

Youth transitioning from care.
Youth committed to program expectations regarding school, work, or training.

How To

Get Started

STEP 01
Reach out to your MCFD social worker

All referrals to The Station come through the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). Talk to your social worker about whether this program is right for you.

STEP 02
Referral submitted

Your social worker will submit a referral on your behalf. Our team will review it and be in touch.

STEP 03
Welcome home

Once you are accepted, you’ll receive all the information you need about the program and get settled in.

Yes, rent is affordable. The rent is paid directly to the program by a social worker (MCFD).

Yes. Youth are expected to respect the property and others. There is a no drug or alcohol policy on site, and visitor restrictions apply to ensure safety and quiet for all residents. Youth are expected to stick to the commitments they make about living at The Station.

Length of stay varies based on how long it takes to accomplish your goals toward independence.
