Frequently asked questions
and our best answers.
Can you meet with my child? I think he has a problem with drugs.
Yes, I can meet with your child if he wants to meet with me. My service is voluntary, so it is important that he want to meet with me. If he decides to not see me, you and I can still get together so that I can assist you to support your child.
What if I don’t want to meet with you, but my school counsellor thinks I should?
Your school counsellor has referred you to me, but it is really up to you to decide if you would like to continue to meet. I’m here for you, and if you would like to get together again, we can look at what you need to get out of our time together.
My child has a lot of anger issues. Can you help with that?
I can meet with you, and your child together, or separately. Together we can look at what’s going on, and create a plan to help you and your child.
Will you share my information with my teachers and principal?
The information you share with me is between you and I, unless you tell me something that might be hurtful towards yourself or someone else.
Where would we meet?
We can meet wherever we decide. Sometimes it’s helpful to get moving … like walking on the beach, or a trail. Getting outside and moving can often help us feel better, and sometimes talking is much easier when we are doing something.
