Is The Station just for youth or adults also?

Answer

It is for youth (ages 17 to 22).

How much is the rent?

Answer

$575, plus $50 for heat and electricity. Usually the rent is paid directly to the program by a social worker (MCFD), but sometimes young people may have another kind of financial assistance or be able to pay the rent on their own.

How big are the suites?

Answer

They are a small suite with a living room/sleeping space and a separate washroom with toilet, sink, and shower. Each suite has its own outdoor access, and access to The Station common areas (kitchen, living room, sitting area, and laundry room).

What is included in the rent?

Answer

The rent includes use of the fully furnished suite (fridge/freezer, bed, desk, night stand and light, comfy chair), electricity, Wi-Fi, and laundry room.

Do residents have to meet with The Station Coordinator?

Answer

Yes. More often in the beginning. Once you are settled in, you will be meeting with the coordinator once a week.

What are the rules?

Answer

Basically, the rules are to respect the other residents and The Station. As well, to stick to the commitments you make about living at The Station – school and/or work, and to not do anything illegal.

There is no curfew for residents.

Only one visitor at a time is allowed per resident, and only when staff are there.

No drugs or alcohol are allowed on the property.

No smoking inside the suites and other parts of the building.

What kind of help do you get?

Answer

The help you get depends on your needs and goals while at The Station. Most residents want help with things like budgeting, grocery shopping, meal preparation, cleaning, employment, and school. We can help with all of these things!

Do The Station residents have group meetings and/or activities?

Answer

Residents are encouraged to get to know one another.

Group meetings are set up to share important information or get opinions on how things are going at The Station, and on what could be done differently/better.

We also plan fun activities and group meals from time to time. We love to see everyone at these events, but you don’t always have to come.

How long can you stay at The Station?

Answer

It depends on how long you need and how much time it to takes you to accomplish your goals towards independence.
