I’m not from Campbell River can I still go to the program?

Answer

Yes, this service is for any youth that is a resident of BC, and between the ages of 12 to 19 years.

I’m a parent; can I refer my youth to the program?

Answer

Yes, however it is a voluntary program. A program counsellor will need to speak to the youth to see if they want to come and make changes. If they are not ready to begin addressing changes to their drug use the counsellor will still try to support you during this difficult time and can suggest other supports for you.

What are the rules that I have to follow?

Answer

There are some rules put in place for you to be successful. On the website you will find youth handbooks. These handbooks provide a lot of information about the program. If you have more questions please ask a program counsellor.

Do I have to see a doctor?

Answer

Yes, as this is a non-medical detox program you must see a doctor who confirms that it is safe for you to detox in the carehome.

How much does it cost?

Answer

The 180 Degree program is free for youth. If your family is able to offer some financial assistance for necessities like a bus pass, recreational costs it is appreciated.

Can I see my family and friends?

Answer

On arrival you and your primary counsellor will make up a phone and visitor list of approved people that you may have contact with during your stay. The emphasis is on who will be of the most support for you as you make your desired changes.

Can I go home for visits?

Answer

You will be eligible to apply for a home visit after completing 30 days in program. A “pass plan” is developed by you before you go home to ensure success when returning to your home community.

Is it okay to bring my cell phone, computer, MP3 player, iPad, etc?

Answer

No. You will be provided with an MP3 player and will have access to a library of downloadable music. All other electronic devices should be left in your community of origin.

Do I have to agree to quit using all drugs when I come to the 180 Degree program?

Answer

The 180 Degree program is an abstinence based program so while you are here you will be expected to use no drugs other that those prescribed to you.

What do I do if I come to the program and then I change my mind and want to leave?

Answer

Before you come to the 180 Degree program you will put in place, a discharge plan that will provide you with a safe place to go to if you decide you need to leave early.
