How can the counsellor help you?

The youth and family counselling program can help with things like anxiety, substance use and strategies to navigate stress. Most of the time, young people are able to use the skills that they learn and strengthen in counselling to help in their everyday lives. The program tries to include parents/caregivers during counselling, because this often helps things get better more quickly.

Common topics young people talk about include:

  • School
  • Friendships
  • Bullying
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Substance use
  • Self-harm
  • Family conflict
  • Anger
  • Communication skills
  • Relationships
  • Self-esteem
