Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services - North Island

 


Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services (YFPS) is a provincial program of the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) that provides court-ordered and court-related assessment and treatment services for troubled youth.  The John Howard Society of North Island is contracted by MCFD to provide YFPS on the North Island.  The JHSNI YFPS team has defined their goal as:  Assess & treat youth involved in the criminal justice within the context of their family & community, to decrease offending behaviour


 

 

Location: Campbell River - Beech Street

 

Outcomes:

 

19 Comprehensive Psychological/Psychiatric assessments as ordered by the courts and 18 Psychlogical/Psychiatric assessements for Youth Probation Officers were completed.  49 court and non-court ordered youth and their families received treatment.
