
Oasis
Oasis is an alternative to custody program for females between the ages of 14-18 years of age. Located in Cambpell River, BC, Oasis is a six-month long program that is tailored to meet the needs of indiviual youth. While in Oasis, youth reside with caregivers who are contracted with JHSNI to provide support and supervision. Oasis provides caregivers with 24/7 support.
The Oasis program emphasises life skills, academics, employment readiness, coping skills, communication and self-awareness, healthy relationships, structured recreational activities, independent-living readiness (as appropriate), and much more! Please see Oasis Youth Handbook for more information.
Referrals (from Probation Officers only) are accepted by fax: 250-286-6080 during regular business hours, Monday to Friday.
Oasis is open to young women living in BC who have a probation order which includes a condition to attend a Full-Time Attendance Program. There are five (5) spaces in Oasis and the program operates on a continual intake basis.
The Oasis staff team includes two Youth Counsellors, a School District 72 Teacher, Counselling Coordinator, and Family Resource Worker. Oasis youth are able to participate in group and individual counselling as well as accessing The John Howard Society of North Island Alcohol and Drug Counsellors.
